SEEJOESAIL

Follow Joe and Leah aboard SENECA

Sailing the BVI

This past week one of my best friends Shawn ‘Captain’ Morgan came down to visit.  I saw this as a good time to take a break from work and go sailing.  We sailed forf ive days around the British Virgin Islands and had a really great time.  I got to go to places further than I had been before and find some new harbors. Shawn, who had never been sailing, got a crash course as we sailed with some heavy winds.  He picked it up like a natural and by the end of the week at the helm he was calling for more wind.  Seneca sailed great through all conditions and made it further east and south than she has ever been.  I will detail the trip soon.  Shawn just flew back to the states and I am actually going to fly home for two weeks and take my ‘vacation’  I cannot wait to see my family and friends, my nieces and nephew and the new little babies in Virginia.  I am on my way back to Seneca to straighten up and dig for some long pants for next week.

  2. For the record, I’m the chick you inspired to take those sailing classes in Deltaville…I’m not actually from South Street just for clarification purposes. My friend who lives down there wants me to crew for him on a trip to Martinique. So sailing is definitely on the agenda. Now, if I could just remember all that damn terminology.
