Follow Joe and Leah aboard SENECA

Time to head North

img_02273I have decided to sail back up to the east coast. When I came down this year I intended on making the trip back up about this time. Six months down here is just about enough. I have had a great job this winter, strengthened some friendships and met lots of wonderful, fun people and now I am ready to be back in the states. I miss my family, my friends, my dog, and running water. So next week should be my last week of work (unless I decide to do one more week) and after that I will Sail to Jost VanDyke, my favorite place down here, for the weekend. Then I start the trip back up. I plan on returning on almost the same route I took down here and I want to take about a month to do it. I have had lots of offers to crew, but much to my Mother’s dismay I am sailing up single-handed just like I got down here. I will truly miss my first Dog Leah’s company. So the big stops I have planned are St Thomas, Culebra, Puerto Rico (where I will provision for the remainder of the trip) then possibly a big jump to Turks and Caicos and then through the amazing islands of the Bahamas. Currently my destination is Charleston SC, but we will see where I am in six weeks and how much money I have left. So, SENECA is just about ready and I am really excited about the next few weeks. I will update this site as much as I can and hope everyone follows me back up. Ahhhhhhh I will be a ‘cruiser’ again instead of just a ‘live aboard.’

  2. We will anxiously wait for your updates! After listening to all of Mom’s woorries, I think we will finally be even for what I put you through with Gram, when we never called telling you that we arrived safely in Washington, many years ago…I think…safe travels!

  3. Joe,
Jen and I met you on Saturday at Ivans. It was great chatting with you. I am struggling to dig into the pile of work that is in front of me. I can only wish I had a month of sailing ahead of me. Hopefully we can get a group of people together for a sailing trip down the road.

Have a safe trip back to the states.

  4. Joe, I can’t help wonder what you are doing right now in the islands, as I go through withdrawl being back here in the states. I wish we could have stayed in Jost longer and hung out. Until next time … will you have a painkiller for me?

    Safe Travels.
